Charter for Ethical Buying
- Employees' professional relationships with the Institute's suppliers and subcontractors must always conform with the Institute's interests and legal measures.
- None of the Institute's employees are permitted to engage with suppliers and subcontractors for their own benefit or for the benefit of a third party, in commercial style operations other than those expressly authorised by the Institute.
- The selection of a supplier or subcontractor of goods or services for the Institute must be based solely on objective and clear criteria. Favouritism due to family relations or friendships, or for reasons of skin colour or religion constitutes a serious error.
- The Provider commits to respecting principles defended by the Conventions of the International Labour Organisation and in particular the abolition of child labour and the removal of all forms of forced or compulsory labour.
- The Provider is forbidden from concealing work. They are particularly committed to fulfilling their obligations in relation to declarations to administrative, social and tax authorities in the relevant country.
- The Provider states that they forbid the offering of “bribes” to their customers or to their customer's contacts. They also declare that they forbid all of their employees from asking for or accepting bribes, whether for themselves or their family, friends, associates or acquaintances.
- Reasonable gifts are authorised so long as they conform with normal business practice, do not provide personal benefit, do not infringe on any laws and could not cause embarrassment to the Institute if they were made public. This is the case for shows organised by suppliers to present new products or new service offers.
