The Buying department is responsible for implementing this policy for segments it is responsible for including non sterile goods and services. They are not responsible for medication, sterile goods and building works.

The Federal Economic Interest Group, which supports the Buying department, enables resources to be pooled and favourable pricing conditions to be obtained. The Economic Interest Group's aim is to provide CLCC members with the tools necessary to develop their performance and competitiveness.

Each centre maintains total flexibility over all their activities and is not forced to use the proposed means. The implementation of a communal Buying policy is reflected in the implementation of a progressive process of harmonisation and coordination.
