The Animal Science Department of the Claudius Regaud Institute is an animal testing unit in living sciences for the Genotoul Anexplo (IbiSA) platform based in Toulouse in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It breeds, houses and carries out experimental procedures on mice.
Organisation
This platform is located at the Claudius Regaud Institute and is composed of 4 areas with EOPS sanitary status (except for certain pathogenic organisms):
Animals are housed in conventional cages, ventilated cages and insulators in accordance with regulations and European recommendations (Convention STE 123).
All equipment is sterilised and experiments are carried out in a micro-biological secure area for animals from the protected and transgenic areas and when required for animals from the conventional area to guarantee adequate sanitary standards.
Veterinary inspections and sanitary reports should be carried out twice a year according to international recommendations from the FELASA to ensure sanitary standards for animals are complied with. These inspections and reports are currently being implemented.
All procedures carried out are subject to the approval of the Midi -Pyrénées Ethical Committee for animal experiments or at the local branch at the Claudius Regaud Institute.
Quality control procedures are currently being implemented.
Access
The department is open to research teams (INSERM, University and the Claudius Regaud Institute) based at the Claudius Regaud Institute. If necessary, and after discussion with the Institute's management team, the department can also be made available to academic research teams from Anexplo who can use up to a maximum of 10% of the department's facilities whilst respecting the onsite sanitary conditions and recommendations for transporting animals.
