  • The doctor in charge of your care decides when you will be discharged. On the day of your discharge, the health or medical assistant will give you your prescriptions, health forms, absence from work certificate and transport vouchers. They will also organise your next appointment.
  • You must go to the Institute's admissions desk in order to pay for any treatments that you are liable for.
  • You will be given a receipt and a medical report.
  • Your registered doctor will be informed of your health situation.

Medical Transport

Your doctor will write a medical prescription for suitable transportation. Warning: in some situations, a medical prescription will not be sufficient on its own and you must obtain prior agreement from your health insurance company to cover medical transportation fees. Don't forget to ask for a transport voucher for your next appointment.

Depending on your doctor's opinion, when you are discharged you will enter into an aftercare program. This normally consists of consultations and examinations a few weeks after your treatment. Initially quite frequent, aftercare gradually becomes less frequent over time. The doctor will explain to you how this will be carried out. It could take place at the Institute or at another establishment. If the Institute is in charge of organising your appointments, they will send appointment times to your home address by post.

Ongoing Care

Under certain circumstances the Doctor might refer you for:

• ongoing care at home;
• or ongoing care at another care or medical facility

Social security will help with administrative procedures

What is ongoing care at home?

Treatment or care is carried out at your home. The Institute works in close partnership with specialised organisations in this field.

Useful Contacts

On being discharged, the team ensures that you have all the telephone numbers you could need. You will find them in your contact file.
